Not so long ago the 19th arrondissement was a little shabby. These days it’s getting more gentrified, especially in the area around the large, pleasantly informal Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. Families come here looking to purchase their first apartment, as do students and young professionals seeking out lower rents than they will find in the centre of Paris. Plenty of Métro stations and a good selection of bakeries, food shops, cafés and bistros adds to the neighbourhood’s appeal.
