The elegant Les Invalides, part of the 7th arrondissement, is best known for the monument that gives the neighbourhood its name: the military hospital that now houses a large military museum and is the final resting place of Napoleon Bonaparte. The lower house of the French parliament is also here, as is the home of the Prime Minister, and the Musée Rodin. At last estimate only about 6,000 people actually lived in this highly exclusive and rather peaceful neighbourhood, but they’re well provided for in the way of luxury boutiques, very good restaurants and brasseries, and lovely walks along the Seine.
