The area known as Madeleine stretches roughly from the impressive place de la Concorde, along the rue Royale, up to the large Église de la Madeleine, then on to place de l’Opéra and, beyond that, on toward the Grands Boulevards. This is Paris at its very grandest. The shops on the place Vendôme and surrounding streets offer a roll-call of France’s most famous luxury brands: Hermès, L’Oréal, Chanel, Cartier, and more besides. Some of Paris’s best restaurants and most stylish hotels can be found here too, as well as some very glamorous apartments. If you’re lucky enough to live here you’ll also have the advantage of some good, day-to-day food shops and, seemingly, a Métro station conveniently located on every corner.
